Submit your research
NexGen Journal is accepting submissions for its inaugural issue through December 15, 2026. Submission is free, and every manuscript receives a full faculty peer review with written feedback, whatever the outcome.
Who can submit
NexGen Journal welcomes original research from high school students across all academic disciplines.
- Currently enrolled high school students from anywhere in the world are welcome to submit.
- Students on a gap year, and students who have already graduated from high school, are not eligible.
- Please submit only one paper, your strongest, for consideration.
- Team papers are welcome. List all collaborators and mentors, and choose one primary author to submit on the team's behalf. There is no limit on team size.
- Research may be completed independently, through a school, or with guidance from a teacher or mentor.
- Submissions must be the authors' original work and must not have been previously published elsewhere.
What we accept
NexGen Journal welcomes original research, analytical papers, review articles, and replication studies across three broad areas:
- Sciences & Engineering. Computer science and AI, biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, environmental science, health sciences, and related fields.
- Social Sciences. Psychology, economics, sociology, political science, education, business, and related fields.
- Humanities. History, literature, philosophy, cultural studies, and related fields.
Whatever the field, strong submissions begin with a clear question, use a thoughtful and appropriate approach, and draw conclusions supported by evidence.
Manuscript requirements
- Use a template: Prepare your manuscript using the official NexGen Journal template for your article type, available in Templates and Forms below.
- File Format: Submit a single Microsoft Word (.docx) file. Only the manuscript is uploaded through the submission form.
- Blind your manuscript: Remove all author, school, and mentor names from the manuscript so it can be reviewed anonymously. Your details are collected separately in the submission form.
- File Name: Name your file using the first three words of your paper title, separated by underscores. For example, a paper titled "Interactive Figure-Text Integration at Document Scale" would be named Interactive_Figure_Text.docx.
- Length: Original research papers should be two to three pages; review articles should be four to five pages. Page limits do not include figures or references.
- Abstract: 150 to 250 words summarizing the research question, approach or methodology, key findings, and conclusion.
- References: Use a numbered bracketed citation style, consistent with IEEE, applied throughout.
- Figures & Tables: Include figures and tables within the manuscript, numbered, captioned, and referenced in the text.

Editorial Review
Our editorial board considers each submission for fit, quality, and readiness for peer review.
Peer Review
Promising manuscripts advance to peer review by experienced academic reviewers with relevant subject expertise.
Revise
Authors may be invited to revise their manuscripts based on reviewer feedback.
Decision
Authors receive an editorial decision following the review process.
October 15, 2026
Submissions for Volume 1, Issue 1 close on October 15, 2026. Editorial decisions are issued by October 31, 2026, and the inaugural issue publishes in December 2026.
